Annual In the tradition of past great regional dulcimer festivals in Ohio, this is a hands-on teaching and learning celebration meant to get people and instruments in tune and excited. Registration form: a printable registration form with map is available as a PDF file (58K). It can be opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free utility for your computer. Deadlines: Please
send us your registration by November
5, 2004 if you wish to order lunch at the Stewart United Methodist

November
12 (register at the evening reception). FRIDAY November 12 SATURDAY November 13 9 AM to 5 PM: Workshops. Seven concurrent tracks with a break for lunch. See tentative schedule on the website. 9 AM to 5 PM: Festival store, vendors, String Side Up intros to the dulcimer, tuning station, Showcase mini-concert performances in the historic Rome-Canaan auditorium. 7 PM: Concert: Dulcimer favorites Tina Bergmann and Bryan Thomas (Hammered dulcimer and bass) from northeast Ohio and Tull Glazener (mountain dulcimer) from Indiana, with friends Jim Sperry and Molly McCormack. Children under 16 may attend hands-on workshops free if accompanied by a participating adult. Driving: The easiest way to drive to Athens is on Route 33 (from Columbus), and US 50, the Appalachian Highway (from Cincinnati or Parkersburg). Temperatures will probably be in the mid-50s to mid-60s. Food: Snacks and drinks to keep you strumming will be available all day at the festival. Because Guysville and Stewart have no commercial restaurants (the closest ones are 12 miles from the Festival), we will be having a wonderful sit-down lunch catered by the women of the Stewart United Methodist Church, half a block from the festival (don't forget to include this $6 item on your registration form). The evening meal is on your own: Athens eateries have everything from burgers to curry to locally grown gourmet specialties. For non-musician companions and family members, we recommend local fine arts and crafts studios, the Wayne National Forest, our beautiful preserves, parks and watersheds, regional Ohio history archives, and more. Lodgings are the participant's responsibility. See listings at the Athens County Convention and Visitor's Bureau website www.athensohio.com More
